Rachel completed a Masters Degree in Musical Theatre at the Guildford School of Acting (UK). She recently also gained Estill Voice Technique Level 1 & 2 certificates under tuition of Charlotte Shorthouse. She also graduated with a Psychology (Hons.) Degree from the University of Malta and also holds an ICS Diploma in Child Psychology.
Rachel formed part of the platinum-disc classical-crossover quartet All Angels (2009-2014). As part of All Angels, Rachel performed at venues such as the Wembley Stadium (Champions LeagueFinal 2011), as guest artistes for the Young Voices UK Tour at the 02 Arena, Manchester Arena, Royal Albert Hall and other arenas around the UK; at the House of Commons; on Channel 4 and on BBC’s The One Show; for HRH Earl of Wessex at Spencer House and held their own concerts at the Royal Albert Hall and other popular venues such as the Leicester Square Theatre. They have also performed at international venues including the Royce Hall in Los Angeles and the Auditorio de Dupitacion in Spain and performed alongside leading artistes such as Alexandra Burke, Katherine Jenkins, Dionne Bromfield, Dame Shirley Bassey, Ruth Lorenzo and Lesley Garrett. Rachel has often performed for the Royal British Legion and the Salvation Army at The Guildhall and Cadogan Hall. All Angels released their Starlight EP at Covent Garden’s Apple Store.
Whilst training at GSA, credits included Young Girl in Anything Goes (Yvonne Arnaud Theatre), Fran in A Slice of Life (New End Theatre, off-West End), Rachel (When Midnight Strikes), Oolie (City of Angels) and Polly Browne (The Boyfriend).
UK musical theatre credits include the lead in Persephone (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), the lead in Make Believe (Henley Fringe Festival), guest soloist in Beyond the Barricade UK Tour, forming part of the cast of Me and My Girl at the London Palladium and the Beatles Philharmonic Tribute at the Royal Albert Hall.
Rachel has appeared in several Maltese musical productions, most recently playing the iconic role of Maria in The Sound of Music (Grapevine, MCC) and Regina in Malta’s longest running musical Rock of Ages (TAC Theatre, City Theatre), both in 2016. Rachel played Cathy in The Last Five Years (2015), Catherine (1565 The Musical in Concert) – (2015), Cinderella (Into the Woods), Debbie (The Real Thing), Befana (La Befana), Crystal (Little Shop of Horrors), Fatimoma (Tin Pan Ali) and her stage debut at 12 as Annie (Annie) at Malta’s National Manoel Theatre. Solo artist credits include Malta’s largest and most popular annual concert Rockestra 2016, Teatru Unplugged 16, HSBC Summer Concert with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), Voices 2002/6/12, the MPO’s Movie Spectacular, lead soloist in Masquerade’s musical revues Simply Webber and Comedy Tonight, Princess Snow White (The Curse of Snow White pantomime), Princess Bianca (Sleeping Beauty pantomime) and Animae Gospel Choir Concerts.
Film, TV, commercial and radio credits include Abdel Akle in the Lee Tamahori film The Devil’s Double alongside Dominic Cooper, resident singer (TV show ‘Tista’ Tkun Int’), Finalist (TV show ‘L-iSfida’), Leah (TV: Ghada Jisbah Ukoll), Angel/Teen (TV: Wake Up Sleeper), online and TV commercials for Air Malta, Melita and Piscopo Gardens and radio VOs for Neriku, GAP, Genki and Homeline.
Most recently, Rachel released her original single Let You Go which may often be heard on local and foreign radio stations, alongside other new and recently launched material, including single ‘Human Too’ and duet ‘For Good’ cover with friend Nadia Vella – all of which are available for online purchase. In 2015, she also released her musical theatre debut solo album Forever Yours which was launched in Malta as well as at The Pheasantry in London. The album received great reviews and is also available for online purchase.
Rachel gives private voice tuition and has been teaching singing for the past 14 years. She has taught in several schools in Malta and in the UK, including Italia Conti Arts Centre. She was Head of Music at Masquerade School for the Performing Arts (2011-2015) where she directed Lucky Stiff (2013), A... My Name is Alice (2014) and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2015). She currently teaches music theory at VocalBooth Studios and is also presently a Creative Associate and Vocal Coach for Studio 18 in Malta.
